Another Day, Another Trump Reality Show... In Space?

So, Trump's at it again. Nominating Jared Isaacman – again – to head up NASA. Didn't we already do this song and dance? I swear, following politics these days is like watching a toddler play with a light switch. On. Off. On. What's next, is he gonna try to build a space wall?

The guy's got more money than sense, that's for sure. I mean, bankrolling your own space missions? That's some serious "look at me!" energy right there. And now he's supposed to run NASA? Is this some kind of late-stage capitalist fever dream? I'm not saying money can't buy you happiness, but it sure as hell seems to buy you nominations for high-profile government gigs these days.

The Musk Factor

Let's be real, this whole thing stinks of Elon Musk's influence. One minute they're BFFs, the next they're throwing Twitter tantrums at each other, and now they're... what? Buddies again? Trump says he's "always liked Elon". Yeah, right. I bet he "likes" anyone who can stroke his ego and maybe get him a ride on a rocket.

And Isaacman is conveniently friends with Musk, and has spent, what, hundreds of millions with SpaceX? You don't think that maybe, just maybe, Trump thinks putting Isaacman in charge of NASA is a way to keep Musk happy? Or, even better, a way to get back at him if things go south again? It's like watching a soap opera, but with rockets and billionaires.

Jared Isaacman: Trump's NASA Pick, Net Worth, and...Seriously?

The article says Trump pulled the nomination originally because of "prior associations" with Democrats. Give me a break. That's like saying you're breaking up with someone because they breathe too loud. The real reason was the feud with Musk, plain and simple. Now that they're buddy-buddy again... poof! Isaacman's back in the running. According to Jared Isaacman renominated by Donald Trump to be Nasa chief, this is the second time Trump has nominated Isaacman for the role.

NASA's in Trouble, Folks

But here's the thing that really pisses me off: NASA is facing some serious problems. Massive budget cuts, programs getting axed, and a workforce that's probably more demoralized than a Cleveland Browns fan. And we're putting this guy in charge? A billionaire who's never held a political job in his life?

He's gonna have to spend more time begging Congress for money than actually, you know, running NASA. And let's not forget the looming threat of China in the space race. We're supposed to be beating them to the moon, but with SpaceX's lunar lander looking more like a giant paperweight, and Duffy opening up the contract to other companies... it's a mess. A complete and utter mess.

Maybe I'm being too cynical. Maybe Isaacman will surprise us all and turn NASA into a lean, mean, space-exploring machine. Maybe pigs will fly. I don't know anymore.

Is This the Best We've Got?
